Monthly Report July 2026

Overview

July was a productive month for ClimateCare CBO and the Feathers of Hope (FOH) Model Farm as we continued strengthening our climate-smart agriculture initiatives and building the capacity of community members through practical training. Farm activities progressed well, with positive growth observed across crop and poultry enterprises.

Key Activities

1. Five-Day Climate-Smart Agriculture Training

ClimateCare CBO successfully conducted a comprehensive five-day training programme aimed at equipping farmers, youth, and community members with practical skills in sustainable agriculture.

The training combined classroom sessions with hands-on demonstrations at the model farm.

The training covered the following topics:

  • Kitchen garden establishment and management.
  • Vertical gardening techniques for small spaces.
  • Nursery establishment and seedling management.
  • Organic pest and disease control methods.
  • Preparation and application of organic fertilizers.
  • Compost making and soil fertility improvement.
  • Improved chicken rearing and poultry management practices.

Participants gained practical knowledge on implementing affordable and environmentally friendly farming techniques that improve food security, reduce production costs, and strengthen resilience to climate change.

2. Crop Production

Crop production continued to perform well during the month.The okra crop remained healthy and productive, with continued harvesting and good crop performance observed across the production area. Routine crop management activities, including irrigation, weeding, and pest monitoring, were undertaken to maintain healthy growth.

The capsicum nursery also progressed well, with vigorous seedling development.

The seedlings are being carefully managed in preparation for transplanting during the next production cycle.

3. Poultry Enterprise

The poultry unit continued to show positive progress.

The chicks remained healthy and exhibited good growth throughout the month. Routine brooding management, feeding, health monitoring, and sanitation practices were maintained to ensure high survival rates and optimal development.

Monitoring and Learning

Regular farm monitoring continued throughout the month to assess crop performance, poultry health, and implementation of climate-smart farming practices. Lessons learned during daily farm operations were incorporated into farmer training sessions, enabling participants to gain practical experience from the model farm

Conclusion

The activities implemented during July demonstrate ClimateCare CBO’s continued commitment to promoting climate-smart agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, and community resilience. The successful farmer training, healthy crop performance, and steady progress in the poultry enterprise provide a strong foundation for continued programme growth and improved household food security
