Monthly Report October 2025

Introduction

The month of October has been marked by significant progress and relief at the Feathers of Hope (FOH) Model Farm, especially concerning water availability and infrastructure development. After several months of anticipation and preparation, the arrival of the rains has brought renewed energy and optimism to the team and the surrounding community.

Key Updates and Achievements

Water Tower Progress

The construction of the FOH Farm water tower made steady progress throughout the month. By the end of October, the structure was almost complete, with only the final stage of concreting the flat top base remaining.
Once finalized, the tower will greatly enhance water storage and distribution efficiency across the farm, supporting poultry, Azolla ponds, and crop production areas.

Damliner Installation

One of the month’s major milestones was the successful installation of the dam liner. The process was completed smoothly and on schedule, marking an important step toward long-term water sustainability at the farm. The
timing could not have been more perfect, as the rains began just a week after the installation.

Within only two days of rainfall, the dam had already recorded a one-meter fill of rainwater, a clear sign of both effective planning and the suitability of the liner. This marks the beginning of improved water harvesting capacity that will sustain the farm through dry periods.

General Observations

  • The timely rains have positively impacted the FOH farm’s morale and operations.
  • The integration between infrastructure (water tower, dam liner) and natural rainfall has proven to be both strategic and sustainable.
  • With improved water availability, other farm components—such as Azolla production and poultry management—are expected to thrive in the coming weeks.

Conclusion and Way Forward

October has been a productive and transformative month for the FOH Model Farm. The successful completion of the dam liner and near-completion of the water tower mark key milestones toward water security and farm sustainability.

Moving forward, the focus will shift to:

  • Completing the water tower top concreting.
  • Strengthening water management systems.
  • Expanding farm productivity using the newly available water resources.

The FOH team remains committed to its vision of empowering the Kinango community through sustainable, climate- smart farming practices supported by reliable infrastructure.
