Monthly Activity Report – March 2024

Introduction.

This report outlines the activities conducted during the month of April 2024, including compassion project visits, meetings with stakeholders, and project visits to various locations.

1. Project Visit to Malindi Compassion Project:

  • Met with beneficiaries and church representatives.
  • Visited two classrooms built by Mathew.

2. Visit to Kinango:

  • Visited Compassion beneficiaries from EAPC Kinango Project and MCK Kinango Project.

3. Office Launch of Climate Care Organization:

  • Met with Fr. Anthony at the Catholic Church Kinango to discuss future collaboration.

The Church agreed on the Borehole water piping to Dzitenge Village which will facilitate future projects such as the FOH and tree nursery establishment.

  • Attended the office launch at Kinango town Second floor of Bebora Plaza, in attendance was Fr. Antony Muigai, the Parish Priest of Kinango, Mr. Vitalis Bodwe, Assistant Chief, Francis Chibwara, a local businessman, members of the ClimateCare CBO, and strategic partners from Smile

Kenya UK, notably led by Matthew Band, Rebecca Band, and Mick Fox.

  • Participated in a tree planting session with Climate Care members, the local area administration and church representatives around the church compound.

4. Site Visit to Charo’s Home:

  • Conducted a site visit for the FOH project.

5. Activities in Mombasa:

  • Paid a visit to Dr. Rene Haller of the Haller UK and Baobab Trust at his offices in Bamburi and also his Mtopanga Farm.

  • Toured Dr. Haller’s farm and learned about sustainable farming practices.

  • Charo received an apprenticeship opportunity with Dr. Rene Haller.

  • Visited the Nguuni Nature Sanctuary for a sundowner.

6. Visit to Funzi and Bodo:

  • Toured the Funzi and Bodo Trust facilities, including schools and healthcare clinics. Where they participate in education initiatives including school renovations and providing resources for students.

  • Visited their farm school where they do vegetable farming under drip irrigation.

Achievements:

  • Successfully conducted project visits and engaged with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
  • Established potential collaboration between Climate Care Organization and the kinango catholic church for future community water projects.
  • Explored sustainable farming practices through visits to Dr. Rene Haller’s farm.
  • Secured an apprenticeship program for Charo.
  • Witnessed impactful community development initiatives by Funzi and Bodo Trust.

Upcoming Activities:

  • Follow-up meetings with stakeholders for project implementation planning.
  • Meeting with Caritas cross catholic program for borehole induction.
  • Continued collaboration discussions with Climate Care Organization and the catholic church kinango.
  • Meeting with Rev. Fr Fabian of Caritas a Catholic organization.
  • Evaluation of potential replication of sustainable farming practices learned from Dr. Rene Haller’s farm.
  • Kickstart of the FOH project.

Recommendations:

  • Explore additional funding opportunities for implementing identified projects.
  • Strengthen partnerships with local organizations and community leaders.
  • Incorporating sustainable farming techniques into ongoing projects.

Conclusion: The month of April was filled with productive activities and insightful visits to various project sites. The interactions with beneficiaries and stakeholders have provided valuable insights for future project planning and implementation. We look forward to further advancing our initiatives and collaborations in the coming months.
