The month of March 2025 marked significant progress for ClimateCare CBO in its mission to promote sustainable agriculture, strengthen community resilience, and enhance farmer support in Kinango Sub County. Through infrastructure development, capacity-building initiatives, and strategic partnerships, the organization continues to create lasting impact within the community.

This report highlights key activities undertaken during the month, including the completion of the second shade net structure for farmer groups, the successful implementation of the first phase of an organic farming training program, and the celebration of the first anniversary of the partnership between Smile Kenya and ClimateCare CBO. Each of these initiatives aligns with ClimateCare’s broader vision of empowering local farmers with knowledge, resources, and collaborative networks to enhance food security and climate resilience.

In March, ClimateCare CBO successfully completed the construction of the second shade net structure to support local farmer groups in climate-smart agriculture. The new structure provides a controlled environment for crop propagation and organic farming demonstrations. It will serve as a key resource for practical learning and collective production, enabling farmer groups to apply organic principles and best practices in a protected setting. This marks a continued investment in sustainable infrastructure that strengthens our community’s resilience to climate challenges.

A significant milestone in March was the implementation of the first phase of our Organic Farming Training, targeting smallholder farmers across Kinango Sub-County. A total of 40 farmers participated in an intensive two-day theoretical training that covered the principles of organic farming, soil health management, natural pest control methods, composting, and agro ecology.

The training was well-received and highly impactful, with strong engagement and positive feedback from participants. Farmers were equipped with foundational knowledge as well as seed inputs to facilitate the transition from learning to practice. A follow-up practical session is scheduled for April, where ClimateCare’s technical team will conduct on-site farm visits to provide hands-on guidance and monitor early implementation. This phased approach ensures that farmers are supported throughout the learning process, promoting long-term adoption of organic practices.
This month also marked the first anniversary of the partnership between Smile Kenya and ClimateCare CBO. To commemorate this milestone, a joint celebration was held, bringing together staff, farmer representatives, and key stakeholders.

The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the journey and achievements of the past year, including expanded outreach, enhanced technical support for farmers, and the establishment of collaborative initiatives that have strengthened community resilience. Both organizations reaffirmed their shared commitment to sustainable development and pledged to deepen collaboration in the coming year.
Conclusion
March 2025 was a month of meaningful progress and reflection for ClimateCare CBO. The completion of key infrastructure, the rollout of impactful training sessions, and the celebration of strategic partnerships underscore our commitment to building climate-resilient communities through sustainable agriculture and collaboration.
We look forward to the next quarter as we continue to implement practical solutions, expand farmer support, and deepen partnerships that drive long-term impact in the region.
